These recommendations are a prerequisite for safeguarding the correct operation of our hinges their ease of use, their long service life and the resulting pleasure offered by our high quality products.

1. Product Information and Intended Operation
Door hinges as defined herein are hinges designed for revolving doors used in building construction. They are used for bringing the door into position for rotation. Door hinges are used in vertically installed doors consisting of wood, aluminium, steel, plastic and their combinations in terms of materials.
Door hinges must be designed to bear the weight of the door and the counterforce of a door closer or drive mechanism during opening and closing. Door and frame and their materials, which form the base material, must possess sufficient strength to withstand deformation of material and the shearing of hinge fastening system.
2. Incorrect Use
Incorrect use, in other words unintended use of the product, occurs in particular in the following cases:
- When obstructions are placed in the opening range of the door, thus preventing or limiting the intended use, e.g. by means wedging the door;
- If the door is used in spite of incorrect or improper installation and/or adjustment, e.g. misaligned door hinges, insufficient or incorrect hinge configuration;
- When the revolving doors are pushed against the door frame or door jamb without any control (e.g., due to the wind) such that hinges, frame materials or other elements of the door are damaged or consequential damage may occur;
- When additional loads are exerted on the door;
- When used together with windows, for instance, instead of on revolving doors as intended.
3. Product Performance
3.1 The door weights and maximum door sizes that are indicated in the sales and planning documents and the installation and hinge mounting instructions of Dr. Hahn GmbH & Co. KG may not be exceeded. The diagrams of the corresponding work documents or the in-house hinge placement programme outline the relationships between the permissible door dimensions, types of loads, types of hinges and door weight.
3.2 The manufacturer's specifications, which concern the number and arrangement of hinges, are safeguarded to a large extent thanks to special tools that are sold separately (e.g. drilling jigs, special purpose drills, etc.) and are thus binding.
3.3 Dr. Hahn door hinges are coated using a special powder coating process. The surfaces are extremely corrosion-resistant, scratch-proof, water-repellent and dirt-resistant. The Dr. Hahn requirements with regard to the salt spray test within EN1935 are generally ensured for all high-class products, at least 240h. That satisfies ordinary environmental influences. Special hinge versions may possibly be required for especially hard climatic, geographic and/or chemical requirements in terms of corrosion resistance.
4. Product Maintenance
Safety-related hinge parts must be checked on a regular basis for a snug fit. Depending on requirements, the locking or fastening screws must be tightened.
- Only use such cleaning agents and care products that do not adversely affect the corrosion protection and the plastic elements of the hinges. The information concerning the use of lubricants that are described in our product documentation applies.
- The adjustments made to the hinges and the replacement of parts shall only be performed by a specialized company.
5. Obligation to Inform and Provide Instructions
In order to fulfill our obligations to inform and provide instructions and for maintenance activities in accordance with our instructions involving „Product Information and Intended Operation" the following documents are made available to planners, specialized retail stores, processors, building owners and users:
- Catalogues
- Product brochures
- Installation instructions, installation drawings
- Adjustment instructions
- Calculation software (hinge placement programme)
- Consulting services
To safeguard the function of our door hinges
- Planners are required to request and observe the manufacturer's product information;
- Specialty retail are required to observe the product information and request the manufacturer's installation instructions, installation drawings and adjustment instructions from the manufacturer and provide them to the processor.
- Processors are required to observe the product information and pass on the adjustment instructions to building owners and users.
6. Use of Similar Hinges
The variations that are possible within the individual types of hinges shall be processed accordingly based on the applicable features while taking into account the product information and proper application, incorrect use, product performance, product maintenance and obligation to inform and provide instructions.
Maintenance Recommendations
The doors prepared by you are equipped with high-quality Dr. Hahn hinges. That means: Great ease of use, smooth opening and closing and long service life.
Proper functioning and smooth opening and closing of the hinges presumes the compliance with our specifications concerning door size and weight as well as our product information and instructions on use.
Functionality and condition of our hinges shall be inspected with regard to the following criteria:
- Smooth action
- Hinge mounting
- Hinge wear
- Damage to hinges
- Locking of moving components
The position of the door in the frame and its opening/closing action can be optimised by adjusting the hinges. Dr. Hahn hinges allow for adjusting the door in up to six directions (for details, see the respective installation and adjustment guidelines). An incorrect or improper adjustment of the hinges can result in the fact that the doors and/or hinges are no longer able to operate properly.
Hinge Mounting
The functionality of the door and its operational reliability depend on the secure fastening of the hinges. Check the individual screws in the wood, aluminium, steel, plastic and their corresponding combination of materials for snug fit. The information regarding the maximum tightening torques, which can be found in our product documents, apply. If there are signs that screws have become loose, for instance, such screws must be tightened or replaced promptly.
Hinge Wear
By implementing special material combinations and bearing materials, we are able to deliver low-maintenance bearings. All safety-related and functional parts of the hinge are to be treated in accordance with our guidelines in order to prevent wear.
Damage to Hinges
Damaged hinge parts shall be replaced, especially when such parts are load-bearing hinge components. No legal claims can be derived from these recommendations, their applicability shall be based on the specific case.

1. Produktinformation und bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Türbänder im Sinne dieser Definition sind Türbänder für Drehflügeltüren im Hochbau. Sie dienen dazu, Türflügel in eine Drehlage zu bringen. Türbänder finden Anwendung an lotrecht eingebauten Türflügeln aus Holz, Aluminium, Stahl, Kunststoff und deren entsprechenden Werkstoffkombinationen.
Türbänder müssen die Flügelmasse sowie beim Öffnen bzw. Schließen die Gegenkraft eines Türschließers oder eines Antriebes abtragen. Flügel und Rahmen bzw. deren Werkstoffe, die das Trägermaterial darstellen, müssen ausreichend Festigkeit gegen Materialverformung und Ausreißen der Bandbefestigung aufbringen.
2. Fehlgebrauch
Ein Fehlgebrauch – also die nicht bestimmungsgemäße Produktnutzung – liegt insbesondere vor:
- Wenn Hindernisse in den Öffnungsbereich des Türflügels eingebracht werden und somit den bestimmungsgemäßen Gebrauch verhindern oder einschränken, z.B. durch Verkeilen des Türflügels;
- wenn der Gebrauch trotz falscher oder unsachgemäßer Montage und/oder Einstellung erfolgt, z.B. nicht fluchtende Türbänder, zu geringe oder falsche Bandbestückung;
- wenn Drehflügeltüren unkontrolliert (z.B. durch Wind) gegen Türrahmen oder Türlaibung gedrückt werden, so dass Beschläge, Rahmenmaterialien oder sonstige Elemente der Tür beschädigt werden bzw. Folgeschäden entstehen können;
- wenn Zusatzlasten auf den Türflügel einwirken;
- wenn der Einsatz nicht bestimmungsgemäß auf Drehflügeltüren sondern z.B. auf Fenstern erfolgt.
3. Produktleistung
3.1 Die in den Dr. Hahn GmbH & Co. KG Verkaufs- und Planungsunterlagen, sowie in den Dr. Hahn GmbH & Co. KG Montage- und Anschlaganleitungen angegebenen Flügelgewichte und maximalen Flügelabmessungen dürfen nicht überschritten werden. Die Diagramme der entsprechenden Arbeitsunterlagen oder des hauseigenen Bandbestückungsprogramms zeigen die Zusammenhänge zwischen zulässigen Flügelabmessungen, Beanspruchungsarten, Bandtypen und Flügelgewicht.
3.2 Die Vorschriften des Herstellers, welche Anzahl und Anordnung der Beschläge betreffen, werden weitgehend durch die gesondert erhältlichen Spezialwerkzeuge (z.B. Bohrlehren, Sonderbohrer u.ä.) sichergestellt und sind verbindlich.
3.3 Die Beschichtung von Dr. Hahn Türbändern wird mittels eines speziellen Pulverbeschichtungs- Verfahrens vorgenommen. Die Oberflächen sind extrem korrosionsbeständig, kratzfest sowie wasser- und schmutzabweisend. Die Dr. Hahn-Anforderung bei der Salzsprühnebelprüfung innerhalb der EN1935 wird grundsätzlich bei allen Produkten mit der höchsten Klasse, mindesten aber 240h, gewährleistet. Dies genügt üblichen Umwelteinflüssen. Für besonders harte klimatische, geografische und oder chemische Anforderungen an die Korrosionsbeständigkeit können ggf. besondere Bandausführungen notwendig werden.
4. Produktwartung
Sicherheitsrelevante Beschlagteile sind regelmäßig auf festen Sitz zu prüfen. Je nach Erfordernis sind die Arretierungs- oder Befestigungsschrauben nachzuziehen.
- es sind nur solche Reinigungsmittel und Pflegemittel zu verwenden, die den Korrosionsschutz und die Kunststoffelemente der Bänder nicht beeinträchtigen. Es gelten die Angaben über die Verwendung von Schmiermitteln aus unseren Produktunterlagen.
- Die Einstellarbeiten an den Bändern, sowie das Austauschen von Teilen ist durch einen Fachbetrieb durchzuführen.
5. Informations- und Instruktionspflichten
Zur Erfüllung der Informations- und Instruktionspflichten sowie der Wartungsarbeiten entsprechend unserer Angaben zu „Produktinformation und bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung“ stehen dem Planer, dem Fachhandel, dem Verarbeiter, dem Bauherren und dem Benutzer folgende Unterlagen zur Verfügung:
- Kataloge
- Produktprospekte
- Einbauanleitungen; Einbauzeichnungen
- Einstellanleitungen
- Berechnungssoftware (Bandbestückungsprogramm)
- Beratungsservice
Zur Sicherstellung der Funktion von Bändern für Türen
- sind Planer gehalten, die Produktinformationen vom Hersteller anzufordern und zu beachten;
- ist der Fachhandel gehalten, die Produktinformationen zu beachten und insbesondere Einbauanleitungen, Einbauzeichnungen, Einstellanleitungen vom Hersteller anzufordern und an den Verarbeiter auszuhändigen;
- sind Verarbeiter gehalten, die Produktinformationen zu beachten und insbesondere die Einstellanleitungen an Bauherren und Benutzer weiterzugeben.
6. Anwendung für artverwandte Beschläge
Die innerhalb der einzelnen Bandtypen möglichen Varianten sind hinsichtlich Produktinformation und bestimmungsgemäßer Verwendung, Fehlgebrauch, Produktleistungen, Produktwartung, Informations- und Instruktionspflicht je nach zutreffenden Merkmalen sinngemäß zu behandeln.
Wartungsempfehlung
Die von Ihnen gefertigten Türen haben hochwertige Dr. Hahn-Beschläge. Dies bedeutet: hoher Bedienungskomfort, einwandfreie Funktion und lange Lebensdauer.
Voraussetzung für die einwandfreie Funktion und Leichtgängigkeit des Beschlages ist die Einhaltung unserer Vorschriften über Flügelgröße und Flügelgewicht sowie unserer Produktinformationen und Verwendungshinweise.
Funktion und Zustand der Beschläge sind nach folgenden Kriterien zu prüfen:
- Gängigkeit
- Befestigung der Beschläge
- Verschleiß an den Beschlägen
- Beschädigung der Beschläge
- Arretierung beweglicher Komponenten
Die Flügelposition im Rahmen und die Gängigkeit können durch Nachstellen der Beschläge verbessert werden. Bei Dr. Hahn - Bändern ist das Verstellen in bis zu sechs Richtungen vorgesehen (Details siehe jeweilige Einbau- / Einstellanleitung). Eine falsche bzw. unsachgemäße Nachstellung der Beschläge kann dazu führen, dass die Türen bzw. Beschläge ihre einwandfreie Funktion nicht mehr erfüllen.
Befestigung der Beschläge
Von der zuverlässigen Befestigung des Beschlages hängt die Funktion der Tür und ihrer Nutzungssicherheit ab. Der feste Sitz der einzelnen Schrauben im Holz, Aluminium, Stahl, Kunststoff und deren entsprechenden Werkstoffkombinationen, ist zu prüfen. Es gelten die Angaben über maximale Anzugsmomente aus unseren Produktunterlagen. Sind Anzeichen vorhanden, dass sich zum Beispiel Schrauben gelöst haben, so sind diese umgehend anzuziehen oder zu erneuern.
Verschleiß an den Beschlägen
Durch den Einsatz spezieller Werkstoffpaarungen und Lager-werkstoffen erreichen wir wartungsfreie Lagerungen. Alle sicherheits- und funktionsrelevanten Bauteile des Beschlages sind entsprechend unserer Angaben zu behandeln, um Verschleiß zu vermeiden.
Beschädigung der Beschläge
Beschädigte Beschlagteile sind zu erneuern, speziell wenn es sich um tragende Beschlagteile handelt. Aus diesen Empfehlungen können keine rechtlichen Ansprüche abgeleitet werden, deren Anwendung ist auf den konkreten Einzelfall auszurichten.
