Starting on July 1, 2013, the Construction Products Directive (CPD) which has been in effect since 1989 was replaced by the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR). As a European Directive, it is directly applicable in all Member States. The objective of the directive is to achieve uniform product and testing standards using harmonised performance information for building products by using harmonised technical standards across the entire EU. In particular, the CPR differs from the previous CPD through the declaration of performance, the CE marking and the assessment and verification of constancy of performance. With its declaration, the manufacturer of a building product documents that it accepts the responsibility for the conformity of the building product with the declared performance and compliance with the accompanying European legislation.
